What Lives in The Water? What Lives in The Woods?

Weeks 1-4 we will work together to create a large mural of an underwater scene. Using acrylic paint on paper we will fill our world with fish, anemones, mermaids, seahorses and dolphins. Weeks 5 and 6 we will each work on our own large canvas to create a mysterious woodland scene in which creatures peek from behind trees and burrow in the undergrowth.

Summer’s Bounty

Bring the kids and make art! Working side-by-side with your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews, come and make a collage all about the fruits of the earth!

Looking at fruit arranged on our studio tables, as well as images by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, we will create paintings that are yummy! To top it off we will eat the fruit at the end of the class - a fabulous bonus!

Beginning with charcoal and black ink, we will draw still lifes from direct observation. As our projects progress, we will incorporate color using gouache paint. Investigating scale and form we will learn how to make an object believable in space. Along the way, we will discover the joys of using these versatile media, used by artists such as Rembrandt von Rijn, Henri Matisse, and Ellsworth Kelly – masters of line and color.
