Portraits of Pets, People and Other Things…

Children (Ages 6-10)

How do we portray the people and pets that we love? What makes for a good portrait?

We will dive into our portrait projects with a multimedia image of our favorite pet using color copies, paint and markers. Jean Michel Basquiat, a superstar painter from the 1980s will provide us with inspiration.

Other projects will include a full-length self-portrait based on a special memory, and a portrait painted on shaped wood, inspired by the earliest known portraits from ancient Egypt.

Sip and Paint

MUST BE 21 AND OVER

Focusing on a single painting by artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, and Georgia O’Keefe, we will complete a painting each session.

We’re open to suggestions on what to paint, so if you’re feeling an urge to paint a seascape, flowers, a cityscape or something else, let us know and we can do that!

Come and have fun, make new friends, and paint and draw as you drink the beverage of your choice! (BYOB)

All About the Figure

Adults

Using pencil, charcoal, ink and watercolor we will draw the human figure. Following in the centuries' old tradition of observing the human form, we will look at artists such as Henri Matisse, Joan Brown, and Rembrandt Van Rijn as we learn about proportion and the ever-challenging dimensions of the human body.

What Lives in The Water? What Lives in The Woods?

Weeks 1-4 we will work together to create a large mural of an underwater scene. Using acrylic paint on paper we will fill our world with fish, anemones, mermaids, seahorses and dolphins. Weeks 5 and 6 we will each work on our own large canvas to create a mysterious woodland scene in which creatures peek from behind trees and burrow in the undergrowth.
