More Magical Creatures
Looking at fantastical creatures from around the globe for inspiration, we will create new and strange characters in both 2-D and 3-D using a variety of media. Our students’ own imaginations will be a crucial ingredient in everything we make in this class.
Sip and Paint
Due to popular demand, we are holding Sip & Paint evenings at the schoolhouse!
Freaky Fridays
Students will look at the work of the marvelous painter Joan Brown and create a self-portrait with a familiar, or protective animal. Students will be drawing themselves from life and querying what is a self-portrait? Collage, painting, and drawing will all be involved in this 3-week multi-media project. No experience necessary - just enthusiasm!
The Collage Still-Life
In this class we will explore the genre of the Still-Life, constructed through the technique of collage, a major innovation of the twentieth century.
Three Ways to See the Sea
Using the idea of the sea, and the art that it has inspired, a morning class for children 6 to 9 years of age will create images such as a sail boat climbing a wave with a full moon overhead. In the afternoon class, students ages 10 to 13 will take up the same theme with a different and more elaborate approach.
